First, the ARCTIC team would like to thank you for the feedback you provided several weeks ago. We have implemented several changes and improvements to how things operate in the cluster. With these changes, we hope that ARCTIC systems will be a little more user-friendly.
- User's home folder quota has increased from 5GB to 25GB
- You no longer need to use iRODs commands (ils, icd, iget, iput) to interact with iRODs files. We have implemented a FUSE file system. You can now access these files directly in Hemera's interactive desktop as well as in the cluster as regular Linux folders.
However, HOME folder space is relatively slow. We strongly suggest you not run any computation from HOME folders, instead please use /scratch space. /scratch is a runtime space that should provide 5GB/s of data throughput so your workload will run faster as it is not waiting for file input/output.
